Our Mission

AICC empowers African immigrants and other minority communities of color in the Bronx through direct, culturally responsive programming including arts and culture, tech access and digital equity, community health education, community violence prevention, mental health promotion, environmental justice, civic engagement, and access to resources, as well as fostering collaborations with key community leaders, community-based organizations and faith-based institutions.

Central to our approach is being responsive and accountable to the communities we serve listening to their voices, tailoring our services to their lived realities, and fostering collaborations that expand access to resources.


Our Vission

We envision a Bronx where every African immigrants and other communities of color are uplifted, celebrated, and equipped with the resources to flourish across generations.



AICC is a 501C3 tax exempt nonprofit organization and proud publisher of the African Whistle  magazine which serves to  bridge the informational gap in the Black community and provide culturally relevant content.


Objectives

  • Organize activities, events and/or programs to promote Arts & culture, health, mental health, digital equity, environmental justice, civic engagement, community violence prevention.
  • Conduct civic engagement activities (e.g., voter registrations, GOTV campaigns and voter outreach and education workshops).
  • Build strong community coalitions to foster collaboration and collective impact.
  • Partner with educational institutions, community and faith-based organizations, and local government agencies to co-create and implement culturally responsive programs that advance health equity and strengthen socio-economic well-being.
  • Function as a trusted hub of information, support, and resources for African immigrant families.
  • Coordinate efforts to mobilize resources and partnerships that deliver timely relief and support to families facing hardship.
  • Raise awareness within African communities about existing policies that impact African immigrant families, fostering greater understanding and engagement to promote equitable outcomes.
  • Provide culturally responsive training and technical assistance to partner organizations to strengthen their capacity to serve diverse African immigrant populations effectively.
  • Strengthen leadership capacity and build supportive networks among members, youth, and the wider community to promote collaboration and collective empowerment.
  • Advocate for our shared perspective locally.
  • Contribute to journals for publications on African matters.
  • Engage in any other activities considered under federal and state law to achieve the objectives of the organization.
